Daughter's Desk

Okay, we finally got my daughter's desk finished and put in her room.  She has two walls that are the dark turquoise on the desk and two walls that are the light turquoise.  Since the desk is going in  front of a light wall, it is based in the darker turquoise.   One end of the desk top is painted with white board paint and the other is a vine design that my daughter put together with green leaves and dark turquoise flowers.  Originally, the desk was going to just have a design she painted with her name in the middle.  However, as she tried to draw it out to size on paper, she didn't like it at all.  Once we came up with either chalk board paint or white board paint and input from a grandmother, she chose this.  All her design and she is ecstatic to finally have her own desk.  Now if I could just teach her to actually put her school stuff on or even near the desk when she gets home from school, I would be a very happy mother.

At the beach the other day with my daughter and her friends and designed a painting in my head.  I will work it up and post it for you.  I'm sure my best laid plans will change somewhat, but we'll see what comes out.

In the meantime, make it a great day and do something creative.

Palm Beach County Etsy Team Feature for 7/25

Okay, I am a little late this week in posting for the Palm Beach County Etsy Team.  I was off working on the sign in my friend's office.  Turned out to be 3 feet tall and about 13 1/2 feet long.  I would post a picture but I took it on my phone and have yet to figure out how to get to the photo.  I have to do a little touch up tomorrow and will try to remember to take my camera - typically I won't remember.

I do want to post about two great shops in my team.  The first is from Chantal and she makes some great fabric items - quilted seat belt covers, pillows, purses, and some shell covered picture frames.  I love the bright colors and bold patterns she uses.  Check out her site and see what strikes your fancy.

The next shop is Gina and she has what she calls "simple things."  She loves to craft and has made some very simple, yet beautiful, earrings, necklaces, fun cards and much more.

I have begun painting the sign for my friend's air conditioning service company.  It is definitely a way to use the math I learned in school.  Having to go from a small business card to a sign on the wall that is 3 feet tall and about 13 1/2 feet long is not an easy task.  However, it is nice to know that I can figure it out.  Please don't ask me to show the math because I don't think it would  make any sense to anyone but myself.  On another note, I worked on this necklace the other day and finished it up today in between the wall sign and my daughter's desk (putting dry erase board paint on one end of the desk).

My daughter has been trying to do something creative each day, as well.  She made a hair barette and asked if I would share it on my blog.  She is twelve and is enjoying just letting go with some of my supplies.  I think I am going to have to add a wing in my house if she is going to craft, as well.

Let us know what you think and/or share your latest creation.  We would really love to hear from you.

Remember to make it a great day and do something creative!

Newly Added Item

I have been working on a large sign to be painted on an office/warehouse wall so have not done some of my smaller creative work.  However, it is nice to be doing something.  It is a a sign to go on a 27 1/2 foot wall and is a logo that has lettering looking like it is moving, sort of.  The design is almost enlarged enough to put on the wall.  Having to design 18" letters can be time consuming if you are doing it from scratch without the aid of a computer since my husband is home hogging the other computer with that capability - he is looking for a new job.  Anyway, I did get a small bowl posted to my Etsy site I thought I would share since I can't put the design on here yet.  I will post a picture when I get it painted if the company approves(should be no problem since it is for a friend).  Please check out my newest posting and let me know what you think.

Palm Beach County Etsy Team Feature for 7/18

Happy Monday!!  As it has started raining at my house (yipee, we surely need it) I thought I would go ahead and do my Monday post.  I will add my new drawing or item I make later in the day.

These ladies are our featured artists for this week for the Palm Beach County Etsy Team.  Please take a look at their great sites.
Hannah has some great photos.  I especially like her sunset views in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Nora has some fantastic shoes.  You never know when you will need to find that perfect pair of shoes.

In addition to these, I posted a treasury yesterday of pink items from as many Palm Beach County Etsy team members as I could fit.

Make it a great day and do something creative.

My 7/15 and 7/16/11 Drawings

Okay, here are Friday's and Saturday's drawings.  The tower reminds me of some of the church towers we recently saw in Germay.  It will eventually get a church to hold it up.  The hand is supposed to be my hand.  I have not done very many hands, but I think it is not a bad first try.   Anybody else draw their own hands.  My daughter does this when she is at school and waiting for her classmates to finish with tests.  Since she can't take anything out to do, she draws on the scrap paper she usually has out and her hand is her favorite thing to draw.

If you have any random drawings, please share.  I would love to see them.  I think I might try taking a picture of the drawings next time instead of scanning them.  It used GIMP this time to darken my drawings, but they still leave something to be desired in the transition.  The tower has a lot more detail on my drawing than shows up on the scan, as does the hand.

July 13th drawing!

Okay, I didn't get much drawn, but I did do something!!!  I have found that sometimes just putting anything on paper and working with the shape makes interesting drawings.  This one turned into a turned piece of ribbon.  I laughed when I was finished because I have drawn this kind of design for years.  I like things to feel like they are moving or could at any minute.  Unfortunately, it did not scan as dark as I had drawn it so some of the shading gets lost, but I think you get an idea.  I will work on better scanning for tomorrow.

Palm Beach County Etsy Team

I have joined a new team for my Etsy site.  They have some really beautiful items to share.  This week, my site and another are being featured and promoted by the group. Please check out the sites and leave us comments.  It is always great to hear from people.

Of course, this is mine:
I know I have been out of the loop for a while.  I have found out that I am allergic to my gourds and am having a hard time finding a new medium that inspires me.  Therefore, I am going to try to do at least one drawing or doodle or something every day to see if I can gain some inspiration.  I don't want to give up on my art as a lucrative business and so am trying to kick start myself.   I'll post today's drawings tomorrow.  If you want to join me in doing something new every day, let me know and I will add your pics to my blog.
